Llanrhystud Projects

Improve gateways on all approaches to present the identity of Llanrhystud and introduce staged speed reduction measures along the A487, including carriageway changes, tree planting, wildflower and biodiversity planting, and a campaign with the local primary school.

Provide a pedestrian crossing on the A487 to improve movement across the village and support speed reduction between community assets on both sides of the road.

Develop footways and speed reduction measures on the B4337, including repeater signage and improvements to the school entrance.

Provide cycle stands and cycling equipment at a central and visible location in the village.

Improve bus stop locations and the use of real-time information.

Implement environmental improvements at the ford crossing to make it usable as a public space with seating, litter bins, picnic facilities, and interpretation.

Promote and signpost village trails creating circular walks to the hills, Morfa beach, and the coast, integrated with highway improvements on the B4337.

Develop a community tree planting and biodiversity scheme to improve environmental quality and support speed reduction on the A487 through trees, wildflower planting, and initiatives such as No Mow May.

Promote local heritage including St Rhystud’s Church, Salem Chapel, Felin Ganol watermill, and local lime kilns through interpretation panels and QR codes linking to digital audio stories.

Develop a community event that brings people together in the spirit of former markets, vintage car club meetings, and agricultural shows, linking groups such as the hall, primary school, church, and mill.

Develop the community council website to celebrate life in Llanrhystud, the role of the community council, local events, and other local information.

Upgrade the recreational ground and park at Cae Ceredig with new play equipment, safety surfacing, seating, and a dedicated dog walking area with bins.

Enable delivery of rural housing on the allocated site off Clos Allt Fach to meet local needs.

Invest in the village hall as a community hub through internal refurbishment of the kitchen, toilets, and main hall, with feasibility work on including public toilets, parking improvements, a community recycling point, electric car charging, and possible youth provision.

Enable delivery of rural housing on the allocated site off Pentre Isaf to meet local needs.

Support improvements to the primary school including more teaching space, outdoor play provision, better pick-up and drop-off points, and a separate entrance to the Cylch.
